Kaela Jalbert is an associate attorney at Powers & French, P.A. Kaela graduated summa cum laude from Western New England University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Liberal Studies, focusing in Marketing and Political Science. After graduating from Western New England University, Kaela attended Roger Williams University School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island, where she graduated magna cum laude in 2014. She earned recognition for her academic performance in Mediation, Interviewing and Counseling, and Trial Advocacy courses. While in law school, Kaela served as a student attorney at the Roger Williams University School of Law Criminal Defense Clinic and provided representation to numerous clients in Providence, Rhode Island. Additionally, she was an active member of the Moot Court Board and competed in several competitions around the country.
Kaela began her legal career at Basham and Scott, LLC in Brunswick, Maine, where she practiced subrogation law, family law, criminal defense, and general civil litigation. Kaela joined Powers & French, P.A. in late 2015. Kaela is admitted to practice in Maine and Massachusetts, and her practice includes the following:
- Family Law: Including divorce, parental rights and responsibilities, modification, enforcement, and contempt;
- Criminal Law: Including operating under the influence, domestic violence assault, disorderly conduct, and an array of other misdemeanors and felonies;
- Civil Litigation: Including protection from abuse, protection from harassment, and general civil litigation; and
- Kaela is also a rostered Guardian ad litem.
Throughout her practice, Kaela has successfully represented clients at various stages in litigation, including negotiations, mediations, hearings, and trials. Kaela is dedicated to every client and understands that the legal process can be confusing and even frustrating at times. She works closely with clients to ensure that they feel comfortable, informed, and confident throughout their legal matter.
Kaela is an active member of the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Kaela is also a member of the Maine Bar Association, the Maine Trial Lawyers Association, and the Bath-Brunswick Bar Association. She is also a member of the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, working to create successful homeownership opportunities for families with limited income.
Kaela lives in Turner and takes advantage of all that Maine has to offer. She enjoys fishing, camping, and snowmobiling throughout Maine.
